Samwise

Samwise is a single-use, lightweight Splitwise alternative built entirely in Google Sheets. Clone one copy per trip, fill in the group members, log expenses as they happen, and the Settle Up tab shows the minimum set of transactions to square everyone up. No app, no account, no paywall.

How to use it

1. Click Make a copy of Samwise below. Google will open a "Copy document" dialog — pick a name like "Ski Trip 2026" and save it to your Drive.
2. On the Setup tab, enter the trip name, currency, start date, and the list of group members.
3. On the Expenses tab, log each expense with a date, description, amount, who paid, and who was involved. Default split is equal; use Shares or Percent for weighted splits.
4. Open the Settle Up tab to see who owes whom. There's also a Settle Up (Formula) tab that uses pure spreadsheet formulas — no Apps Script needed.
